The first one - we decided to use some mastic tape. we first built up the low points with small bits until it it was a uniform height all the way round. Then we run mastic tape around all four sides on top of the built up tape. Then we just fitted the vent and hoped for the best. Because the mastic tape is quiet elastic, applying you can push it down so that it all sticks and fill the low points quite well. We did this as one of the first jobs back in July and we have had a lot of heavy rain since and no leaks at all.

The second one we decided to you caraflex. We put a think bead of it around the all four edges and fitted the vent. I was nt so happy doing it this way but it was a lot quicker. This was done the weekend after the other one and also has nt leaked yet!

My theory is that if for some reason it does start to leak we could go all around the outside with sikaflex, but as i said no leaks yet :D

I have heard of other people making plastic spacers and stuff the sikaflexing too
Oh and dont forget to put some paint or something on the cut edges. We used some red oxide primer from halfords

Good luck and let us know how it goes
Cheers

Hi

We ordered it from http://fast-foam.co.uk/4_Grades_of_Foam.php. Its good foam and was delivered within 2 day and well packaged. I would definitely use them again if I wanted anymore. You can get an online quote too if you have your sizes.

Is that seatbelt legal...?

If it is then might have solved my seating issue. :D

Good question. Did a lot of reading up and it seems like as long as there is no corrosion around the mounting points it will pass the mot. Cant find any better info than that so fingers crossed I wont have any issues.

Seat belt in my eyes is a big no no. Is that a metal framed seat or a timber garden deck chair?

The frame of the chairs is wood but the seatbelts are mounted into 30mm steel box section which is secured through the floor in a few points and has spreader plates underneath. There is no way they are going to move.

Looking at that seat, if you did have a smash what back and neck support would you have?

Even if it technically passes the MOT what does your insurance company say about it?

The insurance company would say we no pay for any personaly injuries arising from passengers sat in those seats or injuries arrising to those in the front seats caused by those sat in the rear seats.

To be honest your insurance company may well refuse to insure the vehicle with that arrangement.

Personally I would be ringing your insurance company up for confirmation, just to be on the safe side
