Fab bed idea. like how youve done the pull out, any chance you could post some more detail pics of how you put it together ( if you dont mind me copying ) ?

Snowdog,
its just 2 4x2 foot boxes with a gap between them for the false front to slide out, the front is just a frame with 1/2 ply sides which with the frame takes the weight im not light,
the slats are screwed to the frame and have a bit of 3/4 x 1 batton under side to stop them sliding all the way out,
next time im in the yard i will take a few photos for you,
heres one i found on the pc

by the way the cushions are all an inch bigger ie 13"x48 and 25"x 48 so when layed out they make 6' 4" me toes just poke over the end

was wondering about how the'pull out' section was supported. good advice on the cushions too, its expensive stuff to make a wrong cut ( and uncomfortable ) !

We just have batons on the front of the benches (L-shaped as above) and then keep two boards behind the front seats. Come bed time we pull them out and 'bridge the gap' ... the slats idea is more sophisticated but we wanted robust!
Rock & Roll beds are very cool but our main requirement is storage and our very unsophisticated solution works a treat and doesn't use up any precious space.

Ask yourself - do you want cool & sophisticated or simple and robust

the false front is 2x1 baton sides and bottom with a 2x2 across the top with a 2x2 middle upright you can just see through the slats at the build of the frames, when its pulled out the batton stops it coming all the way out,
with the panels cut out and covered when pushed back in they just open like any other door,
dont forget the battons are planned so are 1/4 thinner,
no fancy fittings needed, just drilled 1" finger pull holes

It's looks very sophisticated and smart. Certainly more sophisticated then ours - you have done a really good job looking at those pics. You're selling yourself short mate.
