Yea stops the rain pooling a just adds strength to the structure stops a bit of flapping but not all did you buy a seal for between awning and van

no i have not got the seal ... is it needed ? and do you have to take the awning off to fit it ?

If so its easy enough to lift off

its not an essential but does stop rain running behind awning your van gutter may stop some of the rain but in a downpour the side of my camper became like a water fall and flooded the safari room before i fitted it. i managed to fit mine while it was on camper but as you said its easy enough to remove if needed .the seal are the same deal as the brackets different sizes for different vans so check fiamma website for size if your going to order the people you bought your awning from normally sell them .
