LPG is heavier than air, that's why it's so dangerous in enclosed areas. Always have vents to let it spill out in the event of a leak.

I've heard of two plumbers in my area that had gas bottles in their vans that caused the van to explode, one guy was seriously injured, the other died. It just sits there indefinitely until ignition.

Hi.Just got campervan approval from DVLA.A few random comments if I may....gas bottle in steel lined cupboard under hob.No gas soundness cert required.Cant be done at Post Office.Dont have to have gas stickers on rear.My minibus ..lwb , semi high, doesnt look like a camper from outside , apart from a roof vent.Only has one interior cupboard(under sink water storage cupboard)clothing storage is stacking boxes.Has a shower and toilet, double bed pulling out from seating.Hope this helps someone!

I think you only need gas certificates if you are hiring out the van.

So,,, its entirely legal to kill yourself ? And ^^^ by not showing you have propane/butane on board with the use of a sticker,, you will be putting emergency services at risk should you have a fire .

Well I pay higher road tax because I have 8 seats as opposed to 3? Er doesn't that mean more people for less fuel???

As far as seats go, I think it is down to how the ins co feel about it.A good idea to get a fitting cert and also a gas cert/proper bottle storage etc.I read somewhere about the stickers not being reqd on a camper, but cant find it now.Wasnt reqd for DVLA anyway.

only need stickers if you are carrying for work - I think people can assume that a camper or caravan has some form of LPG on it

http://www.bcga.co.uk/preview/publications/L12005.pdf

I know from carrying explosives (don't ask) that you don't always need to have signs
dependant on the amounts and why you are carrying them
ex-network rail 2007 mk7 100 LWB 350 8 seat.

buses stop at bus stations, trains stop at train stations....... on my desk i've got a workstation

A while back the dvla was failing camper applications cos it didnt look like a camper from the outside.I think in around 2012 they dropped that rule, but I think some applicants are still getting knocked back on this..................ie the emerg servs may not realise its a camper now? All very strange eh?
If m7ne had failed on it I would have made up some swirly stickers for the sides and stuck things like "powered by fairydust" stickers on it! Lol

I had heard that having gas stickers on a van keeps the lifters away. Dunno how true it is....
