Has anyone done a Custom Lwb campervan conversion ?

we use a double matteress from Ikea and we cutted it in 2 parts that fits each bed side (asimetric)

That looks brilliant - I love the idea of a DIY campervan & also the fact that it is reversible easily.

I'm thinking of getting a Tourneo to go mountain biking & use the van as bike transport & camping base etc.

How have you attached the bed & shelves etc to the van - looks like some screwed brackets at the back?

Also, where did you get the curtains from, are they also home-made? They look very professional.

Do you have a next stage planned, or is the project finished now?

ps. also looks like a nice neat fit around the rear aircon unit. I haven't bought one yet, but I keep thinking that the aircon unit will be a real pain for space and fitting things around it - almost enough to get a lower model without it!

Hi richbee,

sorry for delay, here my answers:

1- the bed is firmly attached to the seat rails (removed the originals and put a wood bar instead), the left shoulder is attached on floor as the bed and also on top side with 2 90° metal bracket, I did 2 holes to the 2 plastic covering (this is the only not reversible thing, I will put 2 plug to hide the holes)

2- curtains are home made, the reason is that the Baimex ones were out of stock last july so no way to get them in time for our journey. My wife has sewed the fabric under my supervision, I made the rails came from DIY depot (for home use), I painted them and positioned in the van. Probably we spent a little bito more than baimex but we have the rails in different color for top and bottom side (baimex are all in one color). we did them in about 2-3 weeks of job.

3- for sure we want to implement in the future, after 17 days in living inside the van we discovered things difficult to predict in advance. For example we must did that design because the 3 bikes inside the van, next year we want to buy a tailgate bike rack so more space inside and probably we will move the "kitchen module" behind the front seats. We will see

Fabulous conversion! Some great ideas in there. Well very finished and exactly the kind of thing that we were thinking of, although ours would be less extensive and a bit more removable.

If you're still on this forum (noting it was a 2016 post!), how has your conversion lasted? Any/many changes since? Things that you would have done differently in hindsight?
