Anyway, I've owned it for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed ownership with thankfully only a split boost pipe and a bit of a power drain from the 3rd party alarm. It's just hit 90k miles, it was generally very clean and well serviced, but the rust on the driver wheel arch has been getting increasingly worse. I did mean to sand it back, fill and paint but it got worse to the point I was concerned it might spread so we replaced it. Thought I would open with that :D I've not got any welding experience so I was largely on grinding and panel removal duty while my dad did a lot of the welding.

About to do this job myself so appreciate the pics! Also enjoying watching the build come along - pop rivet curtains! Great idea.

Ah good luck! It wasn't as bad as it could have been to be fair, I found painting the most hateful part of it to be honest - especially trying to find a gap in the shi**y weather and not taking the door off to do it. Glad the photos are a bit of a help.

And thanks, I love pop rivets now. I bought cheap ones off AliExpress because they seem to be really expensive in the UK but in fairness the ones I have are crap. That being said, they are screw in ones, which made my life a lot easier.

Good point about the side door. The only reason I ask is the windows with the full glass look so much more modern than the rectangular porthole type.
