could always wrap copper wire round whole van, connect to microwave and park under mains power lines for free electricity... might have to get right under the centre of the cables tho...

(it would work too- a farmer did it in a shed- but powered his whole farm !)

on a serious note, the re sealing cartridge or bottled gas stoves are awesome. even my little camping one that cost 20quid is 3kw output. even got a wee gas heater (1 ceramic thing, like a 3rd of a home fire) it runs on same gas!!!

how about a 12v kettle . take ages to brew , but turns off when boiled . ideal for a cuppa or if really desperate a pot noodle

the issue re electrical stuff is simply it uses sooooo much battery power, running engine to recharge what was used will inevitably use more fuel than just using fuel in first place, as losses through heat sound friction ect in an engine all make it unefficient compared to burning 50p worth of gas- prob cost £150 just do do same with leccy- unless your on hook up or abstracting as above

listen to what experienced guys are saying, gas gas gas.

ps if your worried bout gas safety- even seen a lead acid battery explode from a spark igniting hydrogen(#1 explosive gas)???

messy and acidic n not good if your enclosed!!!

ergo all reading this- do your batteries have gas tske off tubes still attached and routed out thru body or floor?? best get checking!!

lecture over! :D

How about a Coleman dual fuel stove? I've had my 533 for 6 years, I use it every day for cooking meals and i use about a gallon of unleaded a YEAR. Just pop a drop or two of Redex in every other fill to keep it running proper. You can get twin burner ones which would be ideal for more intensive use in the van.
