well we had the first tryout of the incomplete bus and i must say it performed very nicely...

we went to watch our son play hockey in bristol saturday and sunday, so we made the decision to spend the night in the Forest of Dean... found ourselves a nice quiet gated road where we thought we wouldnt be disturbed and parked up for the night and broke out the bottle of wine to celebrate
Image

we were even joined by another camper just on dark so it may have been a well known spot we chose

on the technical side, on first fill up we had done about 28 mpg.... a very respectable figure for an old bus i thought.... i was keeping it well below my normal 70++ mph though lol.....

on the camping side, a bit squishy in bed.... specially when the dog decded to join us, but a very camping comfortable night..... not too cold even tho there was a slight ground frost early in the morning.... nice brecky of bacon butties and coffee.... what more do you need

got some work now for this week so it may be a while before i get a lot more done to the van.... but one decision is to make a bbq support which i will attach somehow to the ladder on the back.... just to keep the dog from diving into our dinner lol.....
Image

cant wait for the next trip now..... probably to see family in Wales this weekend coming.....

great to see you actually getting to use it you've done a great job in a short space of time. bed doesn't look too comfy though lol I suppose the wine helps in that area.

desparate to get on with mine but No1 son promised to do the welding then decided he couldnt be bothered. Guess I'm going to have to do it myself. At least he got me the steel lol cost me a flippin tenner though....I suspect the steel was free to him and he spent the proceeds

what can I say....brilliant this is shaping up to be a first class camper that has already proved its use. well done mate and thanks for sharing.

Interestingly, our skip at work has just had a load of wood and steel put in it...might be worth a trip this weekend to see what I can salvage

well the forcast stopped us going away this weekend... and boy, didnt it come down this morning....

spent the weekend finishing up some jobs on the van

added a small shelf under the cooker to give the gas bottle some more room and also the water container
Image

cupboard doors also fitted, tho still awaiting delivery of handles from the bay
Image

last side panel fitted over sliding door so no more electrics to do (i hope)
Image

some smellies and a candle tomake it feel a bit more homely
Image

and still she sits there contemplating what else we can do
Image

stil lots to do no doubt, but now is the time to enjoy ourselves...... isnt it a long weekend coming up :D :D

I'm likin' the look of this m8 :D 8) You've done a crackin' job in a short space of time, well done  It's lookin nice and cosy, you will be much more comfy in your van now, than in some "budget" B&B while you're workin. :D
