Thanks again for more nice comments  :D

Wow, £37.000! You could have 6 of our vans for that money with change to fix the broken bits (as it's done 112k), almost one for every day of the week!

Just received the V5C back from the DVLA and our Transit is now officially a "motor caravan"! Took approx 3 weeks from sending off the paperwork and pics etc so not too bad (and no inspection needed)

Roll on summer!! :D

Thanks :D :D :D

Taxed the van and took it for it's first drive today, only to the petrol station and down the motorway a bit but it's been off the road for 5 months and started first time. A bit smokey and stinky but that's to be expected!!!

Roll on summer :)

You're making me blush

Might have had a bit of help from my boyfriend on this conversion

Good luck with your conversion, have a look at http://www.sbmcc.co.uk/ for some ideas, definitely helped us

Yeah, no swivel on the drivers seat as it would have meant having to move the hand break and set the cupboards further back so we decided against it, would be nice though!

DVLA have said we are officially a camper with no probs, very happy!! :D :D

Hi Rachel,
Was wondering how you attached the timber framing to the roof? (pre ply) Im looking to ply line my roof, and that looks like a very easy way of doing it..
Thanks

Hi Andy,
The top of the cab was a nightmare!! My boyfriend is the person you need to speak to about this as he was the one that did that but basically he had to make about 3 templates before he got it right! I'll get him to reply to this post. :)

Hi Hughsie,
I assume you mean the batons on the roof that we attached the ply lining to? We glued them on with Sikaflex (I think it was 221) that we got from ebay - amazingly strong stuff and stays a bit flexible too.
Let me know if you need more info

Hi Andy,

It's Paul here. I think the top cab cupboard is my "piece de resistance" In total it must have taken me a bit less than a week to do! but it looks really good. This was also the point where I realised why people tend to use VW's As Transits got more curves on the inside than J-lo! It took a few hours of brainstorming before I came up with a method.
First I glued a few short battens to the roof (to make the curve) and filed in between with 25mm celotex. Then I 've put up a piece of plastic ( the Polyethelene stuff we used for the damp lining) and used double sided tape to stick it to the roof and used a marker to mark the contour of the roof on the plastic. This piece I later used as a damp lining for the top of the cupboard.
This I cut out and transferred onto a piece of 4mm triplex that I found lying around.this was still bendy enough and did the same for the sides, and tried to make it fit.
It took about three triplex templates to get the shape right. I used the side bits to keep the top board in place, and applied plenty of pressure to the top to get it curved. Don't forget to mark on the bottom where your battens are on the roof, as you need them to screw the top onto, with some serious screws. You don't want to get these through the roof! After the fit was done we carpeted the panels and fit them in again.

I'm afraid that there are no photo's in existence of this part of the build, as we never intended to put the building process on the web. I is worth it, albeit very frustrating at times.

I hope this helps

Thanks Paul,
i think i will need to have word with myself and get on with it, so watch out the missus and hope no one comes around on the weekend to ask how am i getting on and that stuff coz i think there might be a answer they dont want, mind they would probably hear my grunting and swearing and decide a brew with her indoors would be the safer option,
so looks like my weekend is taken up then, (and the rest of the week as you know nothing goes to plan on a conversion)
