He's saying burning wood, or pretty much anything, gives off water vapour. The reason you don't seem to get as much condensation with a wood burning stove is probably because of the 'draft' taking the smoke and water vapour up the chimney. Ventilation does make a big difference.

Yep that's right things like portable gas heaters, or ovens, hobs basically anything flueness will cause a lot of water vapour in the air, or a poorly flued/ventilated open appliance as you say.
With any fuel.

When you burn wood, the water in the wood is released, it's all goes up the chimney, but when it cools it can come back down

Oh by the way you're not really supposed to use anthing over a 45deg bend in the flue

harryvanman wrote:got a woodburner in my transit luton, also had one in a lwb tranny.www.thefireweaver and this one from him gives free electrickery, 12v 20 watts. so heat and power for a few scraps of wood.A burner gives you dry heat, unlike a gas fire,so helps stop condensation.sit in armchair, next to fire, side door open and fishing rod out and a brew on stove.

That Tinderbox sure looks the dogs! very nice indeed and I wouldn't need candles for light any more :D
