Single seats??

Postby ocorfe » Tue Jul 03, 2012 8:30 pm

Hi All,

I'm converting my LWB Mk6 and have three seat related questions someone on here must know the answer to. Eventually I'm going to rip out the front double seat and fit a single seat on a swivel base to make the most of the space I have but it appears passenger side single seats are rarer than rocking horse poo. Does anyone know of a suitable alternative or if either the Mk5 or Mk7 single seats fit?

The second question is I need to fit another travelling seat for my daughter in the back I've been looking for a minivan seat as I thought they'd have the integrated seat belt and would already be crash tested. Have anyone done a similar job and if so what are the pitfalls and how do you get it certified and changed on the V5?

Third question has anyone fitted a single seat that converts to a single bed? If so can you give me a steer as to price and supplier. I looked at the RIB seats but they are about £1k each which is too rich for me.

Cheers

A driver's seat will fit on the passenger side

For the rear seat, look up crew van seats, as fitted in network rail/balfor beaty/royal mail type vans, they have built in seatbelts and are bolted through the floor

Hi, im doing the samething at the moment, took a while but i got my single passenger seat in the end, didnt want to fit a drivers one as i wanted it to have an armrest. Is it just one travelling seat you need in the rear? i needed 4 seats so i used 2 LDV minibus seats with intergrated seatbelts as the legs can be unbolted from the base of the seat and a friend made up some new boxes to enable more storage. (photos available if needed) As i wasnt sure what i was doing i bought 2 doubles and a matching single which i have not used, i was going to sell it on ebay but if your interested let me know, bolts to the bloor and is currently on unwin rails

a single passenger seat as rare as rocking horse poo, and its free get it and fit it,

I'm attempting this tomorrow in my mwb high roof. I'm aiming to fit a roll of carpet up the left side of the new passenger seat. May have to settle for through the middle.
Relocating the gas tank too...busy day!

Rocking horse poo indeed.
Be been on the lookout for a mk7 passenger seat for a while. There's a couple about, one on eBay is clean but they want £250 plus carriage! My vans always have seat covers on anyway to keep off the crap/dog hair/food mess/sand etc so I've found a Mk6 with tatty upholstry and I'm just going to fit that with a seat cover on. No ones going to spot the different head rests. Cost me £75 delivered.
Next challenge is to find a door card to match (one with a full armrest and deep pockets like drivers side)

Might call ford and see what new costs.

Sorry to drag this up, but I am in a position where a single passenger seat would be preferable.

I have an idea, and wondered whether it's possible ....

Why not get drivers seats (as they are always cheaper), and buy them from Europe, I'm sure even with carriage and customs they would work out cheaper?
