Our camper.

Postby kev sealby » Tue Aug 21, 2012 3:21 pm

Hi All,
I thought I'd stick a few piccies up of our 350 petrol\lpg...which is currently undergoing expensive repairs in Estonia....bugger.
While we're thoroughly pissed off with this hitch, we're having a bloody good time so far, and hope to be on the road again soon.
You can check out the places we've been so far, ie..Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia...http://holidayjollity.wordpress.com/

I should add...

Insulated with rockwool.
Mdf boarded.
Trimmed with automotive trim from The automobile trimmings co.
Furniture made from bendy mdf, so no sharp corners, veneered with walnut veneer.
Varta leisure battery.
All fridges/oven/hob/sink/toilet etc from CAK tanks.
Corian for worktops.
All done by me, in a hurry....

New small engine.....
Yep, I know, pretty major stuff.
Crank shaft cracked....No idea how or why.
Will be running it on petrol till I can get the LPG serviced in Poland.
Still, we're in Saaremaa, which is a very nice, cheap place to hole up.
Another piccie

Yep that's us.
Still living that dream, but with a short delay!
Hasn't put us off, just pissed us off for a while......

Hoping the parts get here by the end of the week, then it's hopefully 2-3 days work.
So, soon on to latvia, Lithuania, Poland, etc etc in to Southern Europe. If Europe still exists by the time we get there.....

Cheers Whitemice, that's my wifes' camera skills, If you check out our blog link at the top, she's taken some pretty good ones, particularly Norway at the start of our trip.

Neil, if you look in the pic below, the fridge has the grey surround, under the worktop. There is a void under the fridge where I put the warm air heater/blower.
The toilet is next to the fridge in it's own "cupboard", you can see the oven with the towel hanging off the handle.
And in the back corner you can see the glass lid for the hob/sink unit.
It's all a bit tight, but it works.

The major lesson I have learned doing this, my first attempt, is allow for plenty of ventilation. I insulated well, fearing cold weather in Scandinavia, but it was quite hot, and I have found that another roof light, or openable window in the side would be good, or even a few sliding vents along the side or rear, to allow the warm air from the fridge/oven to escape.

Nice van and build, interesting trip and blog too. You should consider posting about your van build/prep/trip on Expedition Portal.

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/index.php

There would be lots of interest (and advice if needed) and you'll find great info for overland travel and van related stuff.

Solar roof vents are cool, prevent mildew and general mustiness. I fitted a pair of them to my van and they work well, today i fitted an additional pair of computer fans extracting above the cooker on the side.
