You can but the draw (250 volts plus) might drain your battery faster than you would like or be dimmer than you would hope...there are some very good led floods on the market though...others may answer this a little more technically, but this is my best reply :)

It will also depend on the size of your leisure battery and how you charge it...

if you are on about the spot lights for your home that sink into the ceiling, then most of the bulbs for them are 12v anyway, they run thru a transformer in the home, as for how long your battery would last, it would depend on how many spot lights and what wattage you use, cheep ones are normaly 50w bulbs, 20w bulds give less light but the battery will last longer from charge to charge.
my advise may not be right, but I like to give my 10p worth, and an answer even if wrong is nice to see.

the led ones are good, very low enery use, only about half a watt, the light they give off is not as good as halogens but in a van they are great, also you can change then for color changing led bulbs, BUT i have not seen any in 12v, but not really looked either. lol
as for just taking the transformer off ant using the lights, yes you can as they are wired in paralel, but check the wattage on the bulbs, most are supplyed out the box with 50w buld, in a line of 3, that would be pulling 150watts from your battery, that would be like leaving your headlights on, :D

Find some 12volt SMD LEDs, they are far better than halogen lamps, and use about 5% of the energy, and have a much longer service life
