Insuring converted vans :)

Postby dan_cameron » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:34 am

Hello,

As the authorised insurance trader on the Ford Transit forum, I wanted to mention that we have really competative schemes on camper conversions and day vans.

We insure ( and excuse me for mentioning the enemy  ) loads of the modified VW T4/T5's...

We can cover full camper conversions or if the vehicle has only a few modifications and is used as a day van..

A-Plan have schemes to cover both social domestic and pleasure use but can also offer cover for commuting and even business use inc carriage of own goods :D

If you need a quotation on a modified transit then feel free to drop me a private message or give the office a ring on 01635-879910.

Kind regards

Hi I have just started my conversion and have taken out insurance with Adrian Flux. I did not know of your company until joining transit forum, at the moment I am satisfied with my cover for this year as they are insuring me while I am doing conversion.
Could you please tell me exactly the criteria for cover IE.water containers, gas regulations with metal casing etc In fact all regulations to keep myself up to the standards for proper insurance. I will obviously be looking for a quote for next year
Thank you for any guidance.....Bruce

I have found this link before and posted it on other sites...

Looks really useful..

Remember if its not fully converted we can still insure the vehicle as a modified day van and not a camper. :D

I won't post details of 'the opposition' on Dans thread but google is your friend. Be sure to check any docs as 2gether have a reputation for getting details wrong! Ask to speak to Katrina or Gary.

Try to insure your van as a second vehicle.Classic insurance is a good one with limited milage,of say 3,000 miles.Insure with rh insurance brokers .
Mine costs £110 comprehensive and that includes breakdown insurance.BILL.

We are based in Thatcham but part of the A-Plan group.

The office here deals with campers, modified vehicles and high performance japanese cars.

Its the nature of the business and we are not always going to be the cheapest..

We are very competative so it is worth giving us a call.

One thing I will say is when calling, please make sure you ask for me. :D

I like to have a look at each risk i get from the forum personally and if we are not competative on a rate then its good to know why and I can give our underwriters feedback.

All the very best
