INSURING AND REREGISTERING

Hi I would like some info about my conversion. My problem is, my transit minibus only measures in width between 5ft9 and 5ft 10in which suggests that I will not be able to fit bed width ways which I wanted to do. This would have given me more space to work with To re-register as a camper van DVLA want minimum 6ft bed.
OK more help please. What happens with insurance if I go down the route of fitting a bed sideways (5ft 9in). Can I change my from minibus group 5 to camper van status with my insurance company or any other company for that matter if I do not re-register or will I have difficulty getting insurance. LOADS OF ADVICE on all problems and consequences I might face. Or worst scenario.

About 3-4 days ago there was a thread started by forum insurer for advice insuring campers. width is not too critical. some want a dvla reregister some don't.
