Shower tray suggestions

Postby Ivan Dobski » Mon Oct 29, 2012 2:05 pm

Gents,
Looing for some idea's changing the layout of the campervan just now and wont get the shower tray from the caravan I'm using into the layout as I've got about 4.5ft left till the end of the van. I've still to get a rasied double be into that space as well planning on it being about 4ft above the floor.

Now I'm prepared to loose about a 1-1.5ft from the bed to accomodate the shower, Any idea's on what to use for the floor? Doesn't need to be a caravan shower tray just something around 500mm wide max . My plan was to cut down the shower tray floor and use some perspex that I can lay my hands on and silicone it around the floor.

Any other ideas must be cheaper than cheap as chips.
I'm the meatsaver murderer only I never done it. I only said I done it so they'd take my bellend out of the Magimix.

If space is too tight for a shower tray/cubicle I would leave it out, campsites have showers and if desperate then a wet flannel does the job.

I have a similar dilemma with my camper/ambulance as the wheel arch protrudes into the shower area..
My options are:
Cut down the donor shower tray and reseal.
Cut down the donor tray and use as a mould to copy in fibreglass.
Use fibreglass straight into the area and seal it in.
Custom make a tray out of stainless steel and bond that in.

If the shape is very complex, I'll be laying clingfilm into the shower tray area and lining it with fibreglass and then sealing it in with silicon sealer. If it's not too tricky, I'll be folding and welding one out of stainless.

I have to say im with whitemice...best to have a loo and a drop down sink...but its a choice thingy

I would recommend not to use stainless, it will be cold, slippery and possibly not earthed...heat transfer and electrical shocks

I would strongly consider getting a wet room floor with altro fitted by a specialist. To my experience in making wet rooms in buildings with limited space, this has always been the most successful solution esp if the floor area will not accommodate a uniform shape.

Consider aus board similar (not wdp it doesnt work) for the walls...once that baby starts leaking its gonna be a mare to track it...a tray works best if pos though..

Seriously?? A layer of insulation under it, and a rubber waffle in it to sort cold and slippy. Possibly not earthed? If it would cause you a sleepless shower, earth it! Quite why you'd want to is a mystery unless you take the toaster in there. Heat transfer....from what, to what?
FWIW, I've also been told that a shower is a waste of time as folks rarely use them. I've also been told a don't need a van, a bike, a kit car, a motorhome or a big house. These are all true but I want them. And a shower...

Would save getting caught rinsing your tackle in a river.

I washed my tackle in a freezing cold Loch. Thankfully I had a nice hot shower to warm me up and wash off the rotting debris that was stuck to me....
