weighing the completed conversion

Postby xjrfast » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:08 am

Hi all,

How many of you have weighed your completed conversions? Mine is not that far from completion and I was thinking of getting it weighed to see what the weight is now and how much extra carrying capacity i have. My question is where to weigh it. Are you allowed to just turn up at any weigh bridge and drive on to it. There is one not far from where i live but the only time i see it being used is when the police or VOSA are pulling lorry's in to weigh them. Not sure if its on the rest of the time. Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Go onto google and look for a public weigh bridge near you or a place that takes in scrap round here they charge £5 to weigh it and give you a printout

Most of the ones used by the police/VOSA are public weigh bridges and can be used at any time.

The one on the A23 at handcross is, turn up, press the button, drive slowly over it, gives you front and rear axle weights and total

Your local council should have a tip where all the dustbin wagons will use, they need to weigh the wagons on entering and leaving. They always allow joe public to use them, not sure on cost, but shouldn't be more than a tenner.

I've weighed mine a couple of times, and come in at 2995kg fully loaded with food gas fuel and water, however since then, I have fitted 3 roof bars, kayak and a rear ladder so thats probably another 100kg

I used the weighbridge at handcross, nice and simple as already mentioned.

You could use the weigh bridge at a scrap yard

Any gravel pits near you. They will have a weigh bridge.
