MK7 - across bed?

Postby gosmart » Mon Dec 03, 2012 2:22 pm

Hi!
In tech. spec. ford declares Max loadspace width 1762 mm.

I wonder where is that measured?

I'd like to have bed across, and I am 1,82 m. I am not sleeping stretched as a candle, but ...
If it is strut-to-strut (I hope it is correct, but how do you call this vertical-horizontal support for body?), there might be a few centimeters left to the actual walls (tin).

I can't help with your question, but I can tell you that the bed needs to be at least 1.8meters long for the dvla requirements to be classed as a motorhome.

I'm the same as priesty, I can't sleep between the arches as I'm 6'2" I end up getting very very cramped!

My first conversion was across the rear arches, I'm 5.9 and it was cramped...

Looking ahead to a possible resale in the distant future. Anybody who is tall like me will walk away from the van. Mine is lengthways, as nobody wants to be cramped up....What is good for you, may not suit the next purchaser..Just a thought before you start to build.
