Postby suffolkboi » Tue Mar 05, 2013 11:31 pm

Does anyone know of a free Camping/Caravan club that will provide a membership number? Not just access to the forum etc..

thanks

What on earth for?
If you need one so desperately, though heaven knows why.....invent one.
What about the "East Anglian caravan & camping club"? for a name, then just invent a membership number.
I can't for the life of me see why you want it though???

Surely a club membership isn't going to drastically reduce an insurance quote?? is it?
Surely, like any club discounts...the insurance company preload it, then give you "a discount" and you end up paying the same as anybody else who doesn't have any club membership. :D

Wouldn't bother just say you part of wild camping for motor homes etc or sbmcc , very few want a number. I'm with shield and they don't ask for any membership number and for £200 I'm not fussed.

I get a £30 discount if i produce a membership no.
I get paid £11 per hour at work - if i can save nearly 3 hours labour by mearly providing a number to someone, then im going to do it.
I know its only 30 quid, but the van is costing me enough as it is.

Also, I don't recall needing one 'desperately'

Just thought id ask on here before i go and pay for membership somewhere.. How am i to know there's not a free camping club that is insurance affiliated, which lots of people on here use!?

Unfortunately, there are very few (if any at all) clubs that can afford to operate with no join fees.
Why not do as I suggest and invent one?
The insurance company may just bite.

Then if you have a claim it is thrown out as you don't belong to a Club....

Yes....Great way to save £30

Because it's an offense, specifically, one of gaining pecuniary advantage by deception (now charged under the Fraud Act 2006)

That, and the fact that the insurance is invalid.

Encouraging someone to knowingly commit fraud is not the smartest thing to do on a forum!

I'm not sure what offense there is in forming a club. I am the chairman of a certain interest club and when it started I was the only member. I gave myself a membership number.
There are now 30+ members of this localised club and I still haven't been arrested for starting a club and having a membership number.

Where is the crime of starting the "Suffolk caravan & camping club" and issuing yourself a Membership number? In fact to be honest, I may either join one if he started it or start one and issue membership numbers.
I'm not convinced a SWAT team would descend on me and charge me for fraud.

I don't see any validity in your claim.
I'm awaiting your proof that I would be seeking a pecuniary advantage by quoting my membership number on an insurance quote request.
