Well it will generate some heat, plus I guess it's for summer use, so if it was me I'd have a vent, but only for the heat.

As said, you still require the vents to allow to circulate over the back of the fridge

i wouldnt go for a 3 way in your case , as a 3 way fridge is not too efficient on 12v .

I would go for a waeco compressor fridge which is 12v and dont bother to buy the 240 transformer as when your plugged into electric hook up have your battery charger on , so will be charging the batteries and then powering the fridge .

this is what i will be doing along with having a solar panel

Thanks for the replys, might also be worth pointing out that we are not sleeping in the van, we have a tent as it would be a squeeze trying to sleep 4 adults and 3 kids in a swb lol. Just want a fridge for milk and a few other bits

In that case go for a compressor fridge , I have a none compressor 3 way as compressors are noisy but the none compressor only drop below a certain range of ambient temperature and when we were in France last year and it was up in the high 20's the fridge struggled to keep stuff cool

If you are just going to put milk and bits in it then just get a 12v cooler box?

Way to go I reckon ... can even take it out and put it in the tent when you want.
