Mounting Ideas for a Fiamma F35 on my GRP High Top

Postby paulrichardson » Tue Jun 24, 2014 4:54 pm

Hi Guys,

My SWB Transit has a GRP High Top Roof (see avatar)

I want to fit a Fiamma F35 Awning, but am not sure of the best way.

I bought some Brackets designed for a VWT3 gutter mount, but there's no way they can be modified to fit (Transit gutter too shallow).

I reckon the best way to spread the weight is to use the "traditional" awning rail and hang the F35 from that, it would mean drilling loads of holes in my GRP but I'm sure Sikoflex would stop any leaks.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Regards,

Paul

I have a drive away awning, was thinking of using awning rail on grp but not drilling holes going to try sikoflex adhesive, I have read people using it to fix solar panels on roofs of motor homes and supposed to be good stuff. I would not drill holes in mine personally. But I will give sikoflex a try.

Cut some prices of 18mm plywood, bond them to the inside of the roof, then bolt right through them.
