Postby smartsprite » Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:34 pm

Hi there, been away for a while working v hard on my swb mk3 work / day van conversion. All painted and kitted out with dvd, beds for me , my wife and 2 girls. Led lights inside etc, re-drilled land rover wheels etc etc. Zetec 2.0 engine is in and mated to the gearbox all plumbing done just need a mk1 /2 mondeo ecu with the name DEEP, DESK or DEWY on to bypass the PATS system and it is finished.
Anyone know of one anywere? :D

Mechanically not too hard, but cooling system and ecu control can be expensive. Have you thought about carbs and a megajolt system instead??

Ecu control is cheap if you use the standard inlet and an early series1 Mondeo ECU

It just depends what you are building it for. If it's just a standard engine then it's ok, but if you want to tune it then a standalone may be more suitable.

Does the early mondeo work without anything other than the engine? And how would the speedo & tachometer be done?

I have a 130PS 1.8 pre pats ecu (MONK), but that won't work properly with the 2L

The ECUs you mention are in demand and expensive when they do come up...
Lucas Laser 2000/IDS
95 Pre Production DRW TD Highcube
95 Hallmark
96 150 100PS LWB Hi-Top
96 Autosleeper Duetto
06 Mk7 (scrap)
09 140PS T330S 2.2

Gaffa tape is like the force, it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together

Woo Hoo now 100% finished........Been out today and after fettling with the power steering air lock and a few other minor niggles it is up and running. So now I am 2.0 Zetec powered....ordered my "Zetec" badge to stick on with pride. Have tried yet again to load pics but photobucket is not playing this afternoon but will give it one last go before tonight is out.

yeah the gearbox is a plus been looking as a 1.8 130ps so same power as the 2.0l but less weight and smaller which could mean more space for a turbo
