Anybody build a 6 berth 6 seater LWB-HI-Roof???

Postby yzfr1jon » Tue Dec 23, 2014 9:12 pm

My trusty 2004 90 T350 is now the spare van as i've gotten a jumbo for work stuff.
So i'd like to get some weekend use out of it for the famdamly :)
Now i need to sleep and seat 6 and have a toilet, cooker sink etc.. and have it able to be converted back to van use without to much hassle.
I already have seats and the tracking for them out of a bus and a sliding door with a window.
Tried the air-bed camp bed route already, didnt go down to well with the boss :)
So any ideas guys on layouts etc ?????

1 saw a 6 berth on ebay last year. It had a similar layout to the 8 seat network rail conversions - 3 rearward facing seats and the 3 in the front but basically you have a bed by the sliding door across the van using the 3 travel seats and a box the other side - and bed behind it lengthways from the back of the front bed all the way to the back doors and a bed up in the air.

was amazingly cramped....

I can imagine fitting in the 6 beds though, I can even work out that the cooker and sink would just need to be under one of the beds

I just cant work out a place for someone to sh*t in private unless you have the lavatory built into one of the cab seats.

id suggest turn it into a 2 berth for adults , and a couple of kids beds.

then make the big kids sleep in a tent

Luckily kids are all under 10 so dont take up much space :)
Was thinking of hanging a few in sleeping bags from the rear doors
I have a triple seat to go opposite sliding door then a box/table infront of it so it can be made into doublebed.
Then maybe bench seats at back and board across top for upper bunks ????
Porta-potti and kitchen ???????

I think i just described wat Duvet was saying   Doh !!!!

Lol yup, you did, it would seem the most sensible. Have a curtain round where the porta potti is for kind of privacy, or insist that everyone uses the facilities on site lol

May get some of these shelving rails and brackets put em on the walls of the van and use for bunks http://products.ironcdn.co/377327.jpg?w=400&quality=80&ts=24122014
What you think ???

You should look up the ford transit nugget and any other swb 4berth. They have slats that store over the cab and slide out at shoulder height on supports either side of van, at same heigt as roof gutter. With lwb, u could have a "loft" for the kids either end of van with a gap in middle for entry.

And a sturdier set of these if tbe wooden shelves are unfeasable. The ones in picture are curtain rail supports but its the same idea as my dad used in a motoX van we had when I was kid. Built hammocks either side using scaffolding poles and heavy duty woven nylon which sloted into the u shaped supports.
