Recommendation for good Omni-D TV Aerial?

Postby jonny round boy » Sat Aug 08, 2015 10:54 am

Trying to get a bit more done on my van ATM, but I need a tv aerial.

Any recommendation for a decent-but-not-too-pricey onmi-directional aerial, for permanent mounting to the van?

Looking at something like this or this.

Are they any good? I'm aware that the first one doesn't receive vertical signals - only the Status ones seem to do that. Is that relevant in the UK, or is it just when going abroad?

I want something that's permanently attached, and doesn't require any setting up (except retuning the telly in different locations, of course).

Budget is £60-£80, but could maybe stretch to a bit more if it's definitely worth it.

We've only ever used omnimax aerials on our caravans but I have no idea how much they are. The second link seems a good price...

You mean like this?

Saw these, but thought they were only for temporary mounting. Says it's also permanently mountable - doesn't exactly look aerodynamic...

No, they do one that is a bit more substantial, like the status one.... That one is only meant to be temporarily fitted outside on a pole. We've never been particularly lucky in using any TV aerial out and about, I had a dab one for Delilah but never picked up a signal, luckily I have a dvd telly in her lol

Yes, the telly I've got for the van has a DVD player built in too - need to get it set up in time for Mania. Having said that though the signal at Billing must be fairly good - managed to get a good enough signal last year to watch the grand prix on my iPad via one of these.
