Blinds for Tourneo

Postby Peter Milston » Sat May 21, 2016 2:50 pm

Hi I have nearly finished my conversion of a Mk 7 (2007) Tourneo to a multipurpose campervan but I am completely stumped by the blinds (I do not want curtains) but because (A)the plastic trim does not provide a flat plain (B) small back windows and rear windscreen wider at bottom than top and moulding for wiper (C) clearance when sliding door opens; it is difficult to attach Seiz or Remis blinds. I have not solved this puzzle. Anybody successfully fixed blinds to all
but front door widows?

How about a outside fitting silver screen or you can also the inside stick on ones

Did you ever resolve this? I have same challenge with a smiley mk4. Current thinking is velcro insect net on sliding door window with backing velcro to then be able to stick material on to act as blind/curtain. Would much rather a blind but clearance is a big issue!

That's interesting. Only photos I can see though are covers for front windscreen. Do you have any links showing side windows? I am considering magnetic or velcro as don't want to be faffing with external ones in rain plus don't want someone dodgy removing it from the outside to peer in as I pick my nose in privacy!!

Yes they do the side windows as well just looked on the site they are showing the side screen on the drivers side from the outside if you’re not far from Leicester they can make them up in a hour or so if not in stock mine was the prototype and I was only their for a hour and a half

Just throwing it out there, but we went for something a bit different for our last conversion. Instead of two separate small rear door window curtains, we made one great big one, with the rail on a piece of trim board above the door. I.e. nothing connected to the opening parts of the door at all. This is blackout lined so ends up pitch dark, and is a good insulator as well as there is a large air gap between curtain and doors.

Due to the van's natural 'tumblehome' (getting narrower near the roof), I used three poppers on each side to hold the curtain against the sides.

Works a treat. Straps neatly with two tie-backs to one side when open, and there's no curtains on the doors when open to blow around in the wind, get wet, etc. It also looks cozy

Looks like a decent job there. However we don't want any curtains, our vehicle is the one attached, a 4x4 expedition vehicle, and we want reflective blinds ideally in each window with insect nets as well. Front windows are another matter so will look at options for those too. Our rear doors have no windows so we're fine. Like others have mentioned the challenge is the sliding door clearance inside.

Thanks. Then maybe just go for insulated silver screens that stick to the glass with suction cups. We have them as well as curtains for front and rear, for when it's hot, to prevent the 'greenhouse' effect in the vehicle. You can buy the material. Cut it to size/shape yourself. Then just a case of finding someone with the necessary machine to stitch some edging on and make holes for suction cups.

Hi well in mine had the same head ache, hated curtains dirt dust the material sucks up, so found some honeycomb concertina blinds at Ikea.
they pull down and push up yep sounds stupid but have a spring loaded system easy to fit to straight windows but I dismantled them and used the honeycomb parts to do my side windows in the cab and front screen don't rattle like the plastic ones (which are expensive) they come in various sizes and think I payed $40 for the large ones. just added some aluminium for pull handles on the drop one making it easier for the woman to use.. will add some pics soon.
