Postby eski » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:30 pm

Hi

has anyone actually converted a Lwb transit Custom into a camper van , if so would love to see some pictures and if possible answer the question below of where to get parts.
I was wondering if anyone can point me in a direction where to buy the below parts for my new Transit custom .

Rock & Roll Bed
Camper Conversion Kit i.e Fridge , Cooker, Sink & Units .
Side Awning .
Pop Top Roof
Floor Rails That will allow me to move Bed up and down van.

many thanks
Eski

Hi,

I'm doing something similar but not definitive... so I can install bed, kitchen and other stuff when is request, then I came back to a 9 seat bus....then I can remove some seat when I need to move my bikes...etc etc

I've already finished the bed (not R&R style, is sliding style) and I will start soon with the other furniture

mine is a Tourneo Custom LWB 2013>

I'm building all by myself (DIY), the appareance is not as westfalia or other similar brands, but all made to be useful and stable.

I use to buy the row material in brico shop and then at home I do the job

I know there are some european company that make special furniture to fit our model...I.e. REIMO in Germany (check it)

Where did you get those ventilation grills from? Thats a very neat idea. I'd like some of those for my mk7 camper.

Looking good Arf
keep the pictures coming , grills look interesting idea .
I know reimo has website but does anyone know if they send out brochures etc.
I find if i click on the english translation then click on another page it reverts back to German , annoying and obviously a bug .

As i haven't got a clue where to start i'm really looking for a kit i think .

Hi,

the grill are made in Germany by Hulsberg company, to get them was a little annoying story because most of the german reseller did not ship in Europe apart Germany and Austria.

You can see them in LilaBus, Reimo for example...but the only german reseller that was able to dispatch is Camper Himmel, very pleasant people and fast shipping.

so after many weeks of "job" I finally get the grilles

I like your design. Simple but very practical. I look at all the custom built furniture out there and a) it's expensive b) not so much storage.
I wonder how close this is to being OK for reclassification to MH? I know that's not your idea for your van, so this is a general question.
It seems like you have used quite a few items from IKEA as well...like slats, plastic containers? any thing else?
Oh yes, what is bed width in your design?

Hi,

in my case I can't reclassify it as MH (or campervan) because there isn't the built in kitchen module, electricity plugs, etc etc.
But the most is that I don't need it, mine is a bus, then I can use for motorcycles, camping, every day car...etc etc

from Ikea we bought just the mattress and slats then we modified them.

wooden frames, shoulders, plastic boxes caming from a DIY depot (Leroy Merlin)...a few things caming from camping shop (sink, tanks, water pump and valve, organizers, etc etc)

bed size is: 135/140cm width, 165/170cm lenght .
seems very small but we slept in 3 (2 adults and my 5yo son) and was very confortable, I can say more cosy than my home bed at the moment!

I also saw the bed slats from ikea, but i didn't see any single mattress to fit each side. I've designed a wooden frame that has one frame fitted on top and another slides under. So I would pull it out and rest it on supports both sides.
I'm also thinking to buy some cheap van shelving to go on the NS wall.
