Converting to camper

Soon to buy a tranny 2010-2014 not sure yet but will be a led high roof crew cab. If possible. I’ve seen a few low milage mess/farewell vans which have a lot of stuff already fitted such as diesel night heaters hot water and some with toilets etc. Although a rip out will be ness these items would save a lot of money
Was wondering if you think that’s a good choice and if any books on the subject you have used and would recommend.
Also when it comes to insulation I’ve seen some use roof space insulation done use silver foil type. Any tips here? I’m thinking if condensation gets near the roof type eool or fibre types it will stay damp and maybe smell or start corrosion

You might find it more practical/cheaper to get a basic van and convert from scratch. As far as insulation goes, I've used loft insulation all round including roof on my current and previous van. The first had for 15 years and never had any sort of problem. Mind you, I try not to generate too much condensation inside, e.g. I cook with window or door open. If its raining - I go down the pub

Allways used loft insulation the glass fibre type as you can push it into all the small spaces but on the mk6 I used the plastic bottle type it is by far the best but I had one of the side panels down to get at the marker light wireing and it was as good as new after 9 years for this last van I had problems finding some so much for recycling plastic

Just starting to convert a 13 plate 2hlwb.

Yes not cheap to convert but when you factor in how many years use you may get out of it it’s worth it

I have the skills but little knowledge but have restored classic cars as a career years ago and have just finished totally restoring a 1970 30’ cabin cruiser so nothing a lot different here except I’m starting from scratch on the wiring which is the only area I’m not totally sure of but have mates who are

The only difficult part is deciding what split change system to use if you go to b2b it’s straight forward for all my wireing i used two core wire all earths to a central conecter block and then to the battery- for the feed side allot to large fuse box feed from the battery via a heave duty master switch so if ever I have a problem I can turn off everything mine is simple as a do not have a zig unit or soler panels
