Rear door windows

Postby Outtheway » Tue Jun 18, 2019 8:19 pm

I have been thinking about putting in windows on the rear doors of my mk7 lwb hightop. I have seen pics if how they look from outside but can someone show me a pic of the inside if they have one? I know it's a flush bonded window on the outside but what is in the inside, cheers Paul

On my ford fitted from new windows the side door has grip fast trim round the edge where the two skins of the door are spot welded together I think the rear doors are the same but not sure as I have boarded them over .
But if you are going to fit caravan type windows you put a frame round the inside of the window to secure it to the door and then board over the out side the frame with carpet coved thin plywood

It will just be the normal single pane glass and not the caravan type, my van is an ex mod and the side windows that are in have the rubber that's holding them in lipped over the body work, but as the ones that I have seen are siliconed in I was wondering what happens to the bare metal of the rear door, does it get I rubber or plastic surround on it, I think I may drop the company an email and see what they say, cheers for the reply Paul

It will have the grip fast on them it’s the same as the front door seals but without the rubber seal bit on it it’s just the u shaped part with the teeth on that grip the metal round the metal work of the door
