Diesel Espatcher heater help.

Postby Steven1501 » Wed Jul 17, 2019 11:14 am

Hi all,
I've recently bought a 2012 ford transit for converting into a camper. I bought it from a garage that had bought off someone who was trying to convert but run out of funds.
I was having a closer inspection of the underside when I noticed what I think is a line into the fuel tank for an Espatcher heater. I'm a complete novice when it comes to this side of things would anyone be able to confirm whether this is indeed a line in from the attached pictures? And if so any suggestions on who to take it to to check if it's done right?
I'm assuming using a line into a fuel tank without knowledge of a person's prior competence is not advisable :s.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Steve.ImageImageImageImage

It looks like it’s a proper job from your photos it’s not teed into the main fuel lines from what I can make out it will probably be piped into the proper ford fitting on the fuel tank sender unit which you will not be able to see without dropping the tank if you’re van was a network rail van it will be a proper conversion or it maybe a ford supply crew crew van I company at Doncaster forget the builds them for a lot of utility company’s

Thank you so much for your help, it's an ex Scottish water van so maybe that was installed by them. Well that certainly saved me a job!

You may find that with it being a crew van the heater maybe on for an hour at a time and then off for an hour so they don’t flatter the battery I remember seeing a add on eBay selling ones out of crew vans that had a switch wired into wiring to bypass the timer if you wanted it on for more then a hour just remembered it’s probably a Clark’s convention from Doncaster

Does look proper but the heaters been removed and floor blanked by the look of it?
That hole in the floor should have a metal plate bolted from above with mounting holes for heater.
Looks like one of the pipes has been left in, probably the intake one I'd guess as exhaust is usually stainless and unpainted.
