Compressor fridge wiring

Postby muddybootson » Thu Oct 03, 2019 11:59 pm

Hi, I'm installing my compressor fridge at the front of my van, the leisure battery is at the rear, I was thinking of earthing the fridge where it stands rather then running the earth all the way back to the leisure battery, well this be OK? Cheers

You can but I reckon your better to run twin cable if your going to run one anyway.
Personally chassis earth is a cheep construction method used by manufacturers. Which in certain areas can cause corrosion and resistance issues in the future.

12v or inverting?
I'm contemplating both for my van

If you are running a longish cable between your battery and fridge, don't forget to factor in voltage drop over the cable length when you decide what size to use.

There's a calculator here: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/cable-si ... ction.html

Depends on what else you are installing. I usually run them back or loop in to an already established earth point.
