Help me fix my luton body!

Postby Heroremovals » Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:11 pm

Hi all, my luton body is in a bit of a mess, and so hard to fix lately as it never stops raining, and rain is forecast for the next week as well :(
So, I have 2 urgent problems with my luton GRP body, one is a bit of hole in the top left corner.

The van overall isn't that bad looking, just the left side! So bear in mind the wooden bit inside the plastic outer/inner is getting wetter and wetter how can I mend this? Guess for a start I could cover it up to stop rain, but then I would need to dry it out before mending, or is there some way of just fixing a small plastic covering over it, using rivets or drilling holes and just bolting a piece of plastic on?

Next urgent problem is a leak inside van from the roof, on both front left and right sides, I've tried to fix with fibre glass about 5 times but always starts leaking again. The problem came with the van, the stupid previous owners tried to fix with tar, making the roof sink and collect water! So now I'm thinking to cut away this front piece altogether and replace with another sheet of clear plastic, and bolt down, after drilling holes, or using existing holes? Any pointers please?

The whole thing looks rotten, needs replaced...drilling and riveting more pieces on won't stop the water getting in unless it's sealed properly.

Please don't post the same question twice in two different sections, it wastes the time of people who reply to you :?

1) You didn't see or reply to Knobby1's contribution which is accurate (that's why you posted twice).
2) You were politely advised by a SITE MODERATOR not to post twice.
3) You didn't realise that Altransit is a SITE MODERATOR and one of the most prominent members on this forum.
4) Your rude attitude isn't gonna get you anywhere.
5) You need to apologise.
6) You've got an almighty job fixing the box. It looks really bad.
7) Not looking good for 3 posts in.
