Foamex to line a van

Hi has anyone used Foamex to line a van instead of ply? I have read that it is used in some conversions, but what I have read are old posts and from abroad, no amount of searching has given me anymore information. On paper it sounds good to use, but there is no information on the thickness or fitting it, so I am left puzzled.

seems quite expensive @£16 per sq mtr ish. if 8 x 4 ft sheets were available for sensible money would be good for ceillings. Not sure how flexible it is.

I've used foamex extensively in my van over the years as I get free sheets of it out of the skip.

advantages; easy/fast to cut, even in thicker (10mm) sheets. rot proof. waterproof. easy to clean. insulative (? I don't have any data on this but it makes sense to me that a 'foamed' plastic should be a better insulator than an equivalent thickness of ply)

disadvantages; bends only so far then splits or shatters. Not so easy to join as ply. doesn't hold screws etc.

I generally make my first templates for panels from card or foam core, then when the shape is confirmed I make a foamex panel as this is more stable and then finally a plywood panel as the finished item. Many of the Foamex panels have been in place for a long time and the only reason to replace them was aesthetic.
