LED LIGHTING

Postby wolfherc » Thu Feb 27, 2020 10:13 am

Appreciate this is "how long is a piece of string " but
Into basis conversion on limited budget and just wondering how long approx would a free standing 100AH battery ( charge at home ) last running say 4 led spots
Ive got smart alternator and 2 batteries so will fit battery to battery charger when funds allow as apparently i can,t use basic split charge relay system

Let's say you are using four 1.2W spots like this one:

https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/dimatec- ... white.html

That's 4.8W in total

Current drawn = Power/Voltage = 4.8/12 = 0.4A

A 100AH battery would therefore last 100/0.4 = 250 hours, assuming it was new, fully charged, and you ran it flat.

In reality, batteries soon lose about 20% of their capacity, so assume 80AH. Also assume you don't run it down more than 50% (which for longevity of leisure batteries, you shouldn't). That leaves 40AH of practical usage.

Hence it would last 40/0.4 = 100 hours approx.
