Unistrut roof rack?

Postby destinationvanlife » Sat Mar 07, 2020 9:16 pm

I've got a LWB hi top 2010 Transit. I want to put a roof rack on, and fit a solar panel, but am on a very tight budget.

I've seen a guy on youtube use unistrut to make quite a neat roof rack, on his Sprinter. The sprinter has actual fitting points/holes in the roof, however the transit looks to me like it hasn't got those points. It looks to me that you have to use the gutter rail on a transit?

I'm guessing the Sprinter has strengthening points in the roof that the Transit doesn't have? Is there a way to use unistrut as a roof rack on my Transit? Or do I have to use the gutter rails and a purpose built roof rack?
