Low or high roof

Hello, been looking for a van for a while to turn into a very basic camper. Did any of you go for the low roof custom and wish you'd gone for the high roof version, or vice verser?

My mk3 & mk5 was semi high roof vans and we’re just bearable for head room my previous van started as a low roof but I had a hightop fitted with a hightop you can fit overhead storage as I am getting older it’s got to be the hightop for me I like my comfort nowadays.
The only disadvantage I can think of is car park hight barriers you could always go for a popup roof at the end of the day it all depends on how basic you want to build it and what you use it for .

I made sure to buy a high roof for a camper. Even though we've only spent a handful of nights in it, I'm really happy we can stand up.

It's a bit difficult with carparks etc, but you just park on the street, no big deal.

For a comfortable camper I would say it would be nice in a Medium roof at least. You can't stand up in a low roof so if you will never stand up in your camper van then go for it. Medium roof is the perfect thing.

We’ve nearly finished converting my swb mk6. Yes, you have to be careful if you stand up, we are both vertically challenged yet I still manage to bump my head but, it’s not,obvious it’s a camper, so can leave it parked up. There aren’t many car parks I can fit the van into round here, with the wheels, air horns, led daylights and radio mast I struggle to get into anywhere less than about 2.5 metres high lol

If you're taller than 5ft10 you need a high roof. That height or any shorter will be fine with a medium roof...

Yes but would need to be fwd with the lower floor we had a semi high rwd at work and I couldn’t stand up in it and I’m under 5 foot 10 .

Depends whether you want to stand up - or get into car parks.

Plus of course no low roof van wil be considered for DVLA change to motorcaravan now.

Cheers guys. I've managed to find a L1H2 custom. Just waiting for the garages to be open again so I can buy it. The figures suggest it's 5ft 10 from flor to roof loadspace, I'm around 5ft 9 so I might just manage once the insulation etc is fitted.
