Back up camera wiring

Postby mjw123 » Mon Apr 06, 2020 7:12 pm

[RE: 2017 Transit 250] I am adding a dash cam/rear cam and need to know which wire I need to splice into. I removed the rear light assembly. The reverse light has 3 wires entering it. One blue going in a hole on left, and two black going in hole to right (one higher than the other). Which wire???

If you have a backup horn, you can splice into that. Wire is easy to find, just follow up from the horn.

Splice into the green with a brown stripe
Ive a tailgate and wired on the nearside rear light as the loom from the tailgate goes up that side.

Just fitted a "TOGUARD Dash Cam 10" Mirror Video Streaming Rear View Dual Lens 1080P Car Camera"
in 2015 Transit Custom
Standard 18ft length camera wire just fits along headlining, along top side and through standard tube to door, camera fitted next to number plate.
Looked at replacing the rain sensor cover with the proper Transit mirror, but cost is excessive, will keep watching fleabay
So, installed a £3 suction mirror on passenger side of the cover.
Connected using a "Micro & Mini USB Hard Wire Box Kit Charger Adapter For Dash Camera DVR", plenty of videos for how to do this in a Transit Custom on utube.
And connected to Green/brown wire as suggested in loom by rear n/s light cluster.

Provides dashcam recording, as well as rear view mirror functionality whilst driving along (perspective is slightly out, but good info on whats behind)
And skips to reversing camera when engaged.
Great picture quality.
