Ply floor fitting

Postby Vanimation » Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:35 pm

Greetings!
I'm looking at fitting my 12mm ply sub floor soon before my altro flooring goes in. My question is should I screw it down or can I just tigerseal it into place? I don't really like the idea of filling the floor with holes. It's also having a r@r bed going in. I don't like the idea of batoning the floor if I'm bolting the seat through it (and having dead space under the ply). Is this a concern or am I overthinking it?

I'd love to hear what others have done.

Thanks,
Vanimation

I think nowadays sealant is the way to go.

Personally I used battons bonded (tiger seal or equivalent) to the van floor with insulation 25mm kingspan carved over the undulations. Took ages to do the carving but floor is solid and warm. 12 mm ply.

As above, bond battens to floor (insulation between them) and screw into that.

Worth thinking about whether you want to run any cabling under the floor a well, and put that down at same time.
