I’ve just fitted one in place of a D3 eberspacer with the Chinese one being able to set the pump pulses per minute as well as temperature you can set it at a constant temperature the ebespacher was very difficult to run at low temperature and at the price you can have 7 for the price of a Eberspacer and they are a like for like swap.

Have either of you fitted them externally, under the vehicle?

No but you can get a kit to do so mines under the bed .on YouTube the Chinese heaters get slagged off for not having the control box sealed like the Eberspacher so I wouldn’t put one under the van as Karl says loads of info on the web .

Got mine from eBay listings
5KW Air Diesel Night Heater Planar 12V For car Motorhome Trucks Boats Silencer B
Hope this comes out right I got mine off eBay two mates of mine have also got one off eBay from different suppliers and they all seam to be the same kit no matter what the price I watched a video on YouTube of a test of the 2 kw 5 kw and the 8 kw they all seemed to use the same amount of fuel the 2 kw unit difference was that it had a smaller heat exchanger and the difference between the 5&8 was negligible and seemed to be the same unit he’s recommendation was to go for the 5kw one as it was the best one .

Yes Chug not bad to fit apart from dropping the tank unless you use the tank that comes with it if you don’t mind the possibility of the smell ok if a work van but not so good in a camper.

Its basically a work/day van but its got a separate storage bit at the back so the tank is going in there, I've fitted several ebers over the years to my own campers so no bother there.
