Roof light conversion.

Postby Transit460Camper » Wed Mar 17, 2021 9:26 pm

We have a transit 460 minibus.
It has a fixed roof light which also doubles as an emergency exit.
As part of the conversion, we want to make this openable.
Has anyone done this to any model?
Or would it maybe be best/easier to just remove the rooflight completely and install an openable one, or even leave the roof light as is and install a separate roof vent.

Any guidance or recommendations would be appreciated!

I looked at this when doing mine but couldn’t come up with anything in the time available so in the end I insulated it and boarded it over but would have been a good idea.

Thanks for the reply. If we cannot make it openable we will probably curtain it in some way. What did you do for ventilation?

Open a window or door if it’s hot at night I use a usb drive powered fan as I use mine more in winter this has not being a big problem.

What size is it, can you not replace with a large heki rooflight?

But it would be a good conversion maybe worth the price if you intend to keep van long term.

Thanks for the input folks!
I was hoping to use the exiting rooflight & make it openable, but seeing your comments, I think removing it and installing a new one is the way forward.
Will do some more research and let you know which one I end up with!
