I extended the floor in the front of mine even with it being a single seat model and then when I lowered the handbrake lever and cut down the cover it gave me something to screw it to .

Digahole78 wrote:That great to hear. I posted my results after seeing a few vague posts saying it could be done but nothing that gave me full confidence. With regard to gap left in carpet, I have opted to extend ply floor from rear into that area as I'm doing a camper / work van conversion. Seems to have worked nicely. I left those studs on for now just in case I find a use for them but no doubt I'll cut them off at some point. If you come up with any nice designs for 3d printed covers please do share.

Ah ok, yeah that makes a lot of sense I think. My Custom floor is lower than the cab area by a good couple of inches so I will have to get creative I think, possibly with a wooden board that goes over the electrical cables and then is held down with the now redundant extra seat base mounting hole.

Extending the floor into the cab area would look fab, but for the sake of access to the wires in the future I'm trying to source a factory floor / cab mat for the twin single setup. Does anyone know where to find these? They seem very hard to find, might need to visit the dealers.

Hey Digahole

Did you manage to get a swivel for this seat. If so which one?

Great job btw

A great post. Thanks all for content.

Thought I should add some thoughts/info. A year ago we converted our 350 double into a 'swivel'. The conversion was fiddly but not difficult. In addition to the kit I needed to add several shims to make the device perfectly flat.

It does work but as others have said is a pain as it relies on 4x sprung latches finding their homes in 4x holes each time it's used. Believe me this isn't easy but can be done. The difficulty exists because the 'pivot' is not fixed but floats over a large triangular area.

Long story short have now fitted a single drivers seat on passenger side with pivot.Ebay job. Was a little scruffy but releasing hog rings got covers removed and put though washing machine. Cleaned up well.

The M12 hole mentioned above doesn't require a tap BTW. The M12 bolts are thread forming and driving them in crushes not cuts a thread. It's what ford do. I managed it easily with a 1/2" ratchet.

Thanks for the thread.

Can this be done in a Transit Custom with heated seats?

Hi.

Great thread. I'm about to follow in others footsteps.

Does anyone know will a Mk8 Panel van Drivers seat work as a replacement for the Mk8 Panel van dual seat. Obviously it needs the base quadrant thingy as well ?

Regards

Yes if it has a arm rest it will be on the wrong side my bus came with single seats but I removed them as it made it a lot easier to get my fat backside into the rear of the van I used a large flat washer to cover the holes up after removal you also have to swap the seat belt anchor over I’ve not had to do this part myself but from posts on here it can be done .

I'm searching for an armrest as my OEM single passenger seat hasn't one.

I guess you left the tilting mechanism inside the seat.

Would you sell the armrest?

Cheers,

David

Hi, I'm struggling with the same problem, I want to change the double seat in my 2023 transit custom for a single seat. I have the seat but no seat box can't find a seat box for the passenger side anywhere. Did the drivers seat box fit straight in and did all the bolt holes line up ok?

Thanks in advance
