Tap into Diesel tank of a Transit 2002 MK6.

Postby rechena » Wed Oct 19, 2022 4:55 pm

Hi
Apologies if it has been asked before, and I did tried to check under the van without removing the tank.
Long story short, I"m about to install a diesel heater on my 2002 Mk6 LWD and wanted to know if I can tap into the diesel tank, I noticed that it does not have the same aux port as I see on all YouTubes, but browsing on this forum I've seen someone mentioning a 2002..

Does anyone knows if its possible and if so which kit should I purchase? Thanks for the help.

You can get a kit from Butler technique drop the tank to fit it on a nipple on the tank sender unit

Oh that’s great news. Sorry you wouldn’t have a pic? From the photo I managed to take I couldn’t see any nipple type to attach….

Not sure on the mk6, you always have the option of drilling and installing the universal pickup that comes with the heater.

On my mk6 all I did was cut the top of the nipple off and fit a flexible pipe on the sender unit the tank had drop pipe in it so didn’t have to use all the kit I got from Butler technique .On my mk8 I did use the drinking straw and connector it surprises me that it’s the same kit for a mk6 and a mk8 even the fitting instructions and photos are the same for both I personally wouldn’t drill the tank all that will do is give you another place for a leak .
