if you make the ceiling lights 12v dc then you can run them off the battery, the computer and screen i'd imagine they will be 240v ac so you'll need an inverter that converts the 12v dc battery to 240v ac :D

id like all the wiring to be neat and for the screen i have this information about it :
Input I/O Ports
12V DC

Power Consumption
32W (typ.)

Power Supply
AC 100 ~ 240V ; 50/60 Hz

and for the system itself i have this:
Power Input DC 6-24V
Power Consumption 90W

any ideas ??

you may want to fit a seperate leasure battery tho so you can switch off the engine battery, then if you flatten the leasure battery you'll still be able to start the van :D

you can connect to the + terminal of the leasure battery via a fuse (rated for the appliance) then to the plug the - side of it you can just earth it to the body of the van - but to do a nice job its better to run all your earths to the same place and then run a wire dierct to the - terminal on the battery so it gets a good connection :D

Thought the technical section in the web site from OxtonyxO was useful.
http://www.powerstream.com/DC-PC-12V.htm

It has battery info, votage drop and wire gauge charts, ect.

I'm hoping that you already have a zig unit installed?
If not then this is an absolute must.....before even dreaming of any bedside tv or computers etc.

My van is a camper conversion which the previous owner fitted out quite well using furniture/fittings all supplied from Leisuredrive. Provision made for tv, status aerial professionally installed, cooker, 3 way fridge, 12v/240v electrics all properly fitted........BUT no Zig unit. BIG MISTAKE!!!

Anyone even starting/thinking of camper conversions should place a Zig unit at the very top of the list......with everything else following after. The first site you overnight on and you will soon see why it's so important to build everything around a zig.

Enables mains voltage connection which runs everything electrical in van plus charging leisure battery/s at the same time.
Invalueable if on tour.

Its surprising how quick you can drain a single 85ah leisure battery which most people generally go with.

I will be fitting a zig cos it was cheap but if i had the money id fit a CBE electrical system as it does all that my zig can do plus all of my other sensors and switches as well, plus its a tiny compact unit.

http://www.wildaxmotorhomes.com/cbe-pc2 ... m-i17.html

This is the zig model i have, its a cf9.
http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/carava ... arger.aspx

The one good thing about this unit is that is has 12v/240v outlets for the fridge that i use.

I dont think a zig unit is any better than any other electical control unit but it should be a whole lot better than nothing at all. But then its all new to me..... ......
