Before I start my conversion

Postby joe1983 » Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:05 pm

Hi,
I plan on turning my van into the weekend/race van so i need to get a weekends use out of it and store bikes. I know what i need to to do i think plan wise.

BUT,

It was a joiners van and i've pulled out all the racking. Its ply lined and has a ply floor which probably needs to come out so i can insulate it.

What should i do before i start adding to it?

It may have wet muddy stuff in the back of it so i'm concerned about rust.

It is a mk6 350.

ta in advance

Treat the floor like a sealed bathroom, lino on the floor and up the walls at least 4 inches and sealed at the corners either by melting/glue/sealant ect.

Try here...... http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/index.php

I have a 350 Hi-top thats just been kitted out, have a look might get a idea. The bed was designed so the middle comes out and matey before had the same setup and put his bike in there.

Interesting idea with the lino. Would that be better than waxoyl treatment that i read about? Not too keen on the waxoyl as its a pain to remove if i ever have to but if its the best solution long term than its worth a shot.
