my camper to be

Postby camperconvert » Thu Apr 09, 2009 8:27 pm

hi all

first off, glad to see my suggestion for a camper section proved to be popular... thanks all who voted for it and the mods for making it possible :D

now, as im a self employed contractor, my conversion has been very slow so far.
unfortunately i now have the time to make some progress as im out of work from tomorrow :(

still, every cloud has a silver lining as they say.

just a few pics here to show the slow progress

Image
how we bought her

stripped out ready for convertion

flooring almost complete

insulation fitted

her design for travelling round europe

Image
my design as im the one who is now probably going to use it as accomodation while chasing work all over the country

its taken us since before xmas to get this far.... hopefully it wont take much longer now i have some spare time on my hands!!!!!!!!

btw.... its not meant to be the best camper on the road.... it cost £400 from the bay of flees, but has just (flown)throught its mot with only one tyre and 120quids
worth of welding so i cant complain :)

cooker/sink unit to go rear left hand.....

potty for rear right hand (enclosed)......

not sure yet after that..... will see how the remaining space looks :!:

Thanks pal, yeah I think its brightfish on here and it was a blog that inspired me to build my camper. Its certainly a nice fit in the back. Are you planning on blocking off the cab? That's not something I want to do really but I can see its advantages.

Mine will also be a daily driver that the mrs will use so as car like as possible but a comfortable camper is my remit.

not sure yet.....

mines very much a suck it and see build...... i have the basic ideas of what i want but no definate plans of how im going to do it tillit happens lol.

as for use.... that very much depends on work.... ive been very lucky to be working close to home for the last couple of years.... if i need to move more than a daily commut then i will be using the van as accomodation wherever i can find work....

Hi all

thought i would give you an update on whats been happening to the bus.....

its not much fun being temporarily unemployed :( , but boy, does it give you some time to work on the van :D

below is the result of the last couple of days spent runing back and forth to b&q to get a few bits and pieces......
btw..... appologies for the large size pics and the quality of my phone cam

some wood for battons
Image

some more wood for slats
Image

and yet more slats
Image

some piano hinge for a lid
Image

and yet more wood to tie it all together and make it all work....
Image

in fact i now have so much wood that i had enough to get the main frame for the cooker in place
Image

im absolutely knackered now - time for a nice cold stella!!!!!!!
