well thought I'd get a few pics up for ya's, had the old girl about 2 weeks now and happy as a pig in muck with it, pulls like a train, even showed a newish sprinter how to go up a hill today

really should sent one of the kids up to clean the roof

have some more picks on my camera, but not got round to uploading them yet, been a little busy thanks to JOHNPINTO  who kindly gave me all the stuff I could possibly need for the rest of the conversion, she'll be soon ready for a trip away, just need the foam for the seats, and possibly a 2nd battery, but I can pick one of them up cheap enough

DVLA and Insurance requirements for
Self Build Motor Caravans

Building your first motor caravan can be daunting enough without having to keep wondering just what is required to
allow me to reclassify my base vehicle into the coveted "Motor Caravan" on your precious V5.

Hopefully this list will help you fathom out the veritable mine field that is required for a home converted vehicle and
allow you to plan your conversion whilst taking into account each of the sections.
The following permanent (non removable) fixtures and fittings are required.

1: Sleeping accommodation, A bed with a minimum length of 6ft or 180cms.
® Integral part of vehicle living accommodation area
® Either beds or beds converted from seats
® Secured as a permanent fixture (with base structures bolted, riveted, screwed or welded)
® Secured directly to the vehicle floor and/or side wall (unless provision over drivers cab compartment)

2: A horizontal sliding side door or an outward opening rear/side door.

3: Seats and table, Seating area for diners to sit round a detachable or fixed table.
® Integral part of vehicle living accommodation area (mounted independently of other items)
® Table capable of being mounted directly to the vehicle floor or side wall
® Table mounting arrangement secured as a permanent feature (bolted, riveted, screwed or welded) although table
may
® be detachable
® Seats secured directly to the vehicle floor and/or side wall
® Seats secured as a permanent fixture (bolted, riveted, screwed or welded)
® Permanently secured seating available for use at table

4: A permanent installation to house a water container.
Adrian Flux require an installation to hold at least a six gallon, 27 litres, water container.

5: Storage facilities, Wardrobes or Cupboards.
® Cupboard / locker
® Integral part of vehicle living accommodation area (mounted independently of other items, unless incorporated
below
® seat / sleeping accommodation or the cooker)
® Secured as a permanent feature (bolted, riveted, screwed or welded)
® Secured directly to the vehicle floor and/or side wall (unless provision over drivers cab compartment)

6: Cooking facilities, Fixed gas or electric hob or microwave.
® Integral part of vehicle living accommodation area (mounted independently of other items)
® Secured directly to the vehicle floor or side wall
® Secured as a permanent feature (bolted, riveted, screwed or welded)
® Minimum of two ring cooking facility or microwave equipped in either case with fuel / power source
® If gas having remote fuel supply, fuel supply pipe permanently secured to vehicle structure
® If gas with remote fuel supply, fuel reservoir secure storage cupboard or reservoir secured to vehicle structure

7: At least one side window.

Notes:
Shield Total Insurance and Adrian Flux have fairly similar requirements for their insurance offers. The conversion
must be completed within 120 days with Shield Total Insurance and 180 days with Adrian Flux, from the inception of
the policy. If the conversion is not completed within this time or the photographs do not meet the Underwriters crite-
ria, the policy will be cancelled. Flux do not require photographs.

if it wasn't for johnpinto I'd be alot further back in the build, so some on the credit has to go to him for suppling the 'free to a good home' item

not much to report, but thought I'd update ya on the build, got the roof lining in place now I have a roof vent, almost got the sink unit sorted, even managed to find some blue 1/2 thick acrylic to cover the worktops in, got some 12v lights at last thanks to freecycle. will post some pics up in the next few days. Just need water and gas to sort, still trying to find some cheap foam and then some side window, then it's just a case of tidying the edges and maybe a lick of paint here and there, oh and a carpet/laminate flooring of some sort, more than likely laminate though
