solar powered air ventilation solution for campers

Postby gfdiamond » Tue May 05, 2009 3:09 pm

hi guys,

i was at the grand designs exhibition in london and found this solution for aircon in van.

its a solar powered rooftop fan system and is under £400.00

its called the solar star ventilation system.

seems like a great solution for van owners who want ventilation during the day, without spending thousands.

if you do contact the company, please tell them you heard about it via the grand design show.

That's a lot of money. In my old blue van I had a similar device made from one of those trickle charger solar panels hooked up directly to a 60mm computer fan, put inside a piece of drainpipe through the roof of the van, with an upturned plastic tub over the top. Cost me about £15.

thats a good solution also.

i like the fact that this one moves a massive amount of air ...see the specs.

and the fan is really big.

geoff.

Nice idea but still a bit pricey :( I'm sure solar technology will eventually come down in price, after all my first video cost me 300 quid

Maplins have been expensive for solar stuff... brought two 21w for £120 about 3 years back off a fella on fleebay, less than than a third of the price of maplins at the time 8) and they work on a overcast day... He got into of the habit of parking his van under a street light at night thinking it would charge, but when I checked it, it wasnt enought to kick the regulator in
Just found this one, shame about the postage though

Yeh, looks a goodun without the postage. Guess I'll just have to wait/save up, but at least we're seeing prices dropping :)
