camper van sites in Scotland

Postby frank133 » Fri May 08, 2009 9:58 pm

Hi having nearly got this van sorted, where would be the best place to find stop over locations on the west coast of Scotland.
I promised the wife I would take her to Scotland, after I spent a few weeks on the isle of Lewis bringing back heavy plant to Glasgow. That was when I was driving a wagon.

Ten years she has waited,
I know all of Britain has fantastic places, but the road to Fort William, and the roads around Lock Ness,I will never forget.
Parts of Scotland are unreal the scenery is fantastic, and the people are great,
I have spent plenty of time in and around Glasgow, and always got on well with the people.
I am sorry if this post is in the wrong section cheers frank.

If you've got the time, head towards Fort William A82, then go across the corran ferry and head towards ardnamurchan point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ardnamurchan_Point there are a few great camp sites on the road to the lighthouse which is a must see :)

What are you after, the tourist board website will have lists of campsites by areas, or it will be pretty easy to find somewhere to park up for wild camping

Well finally took this camper on a short trip,
It was to Southport beach, this newer engine pulls pretty good, and the gearbox is fine.
I think the speedo is out a bit,but not bothered about that.
I am going up to the lakes next week, so want to make sure everything is finally sorted.
Then up to Scotland in a few more weeks.
It was a bit different today, having a pot noodle and a cup of tea,on a windswept beach,I think I will become a nomad
