FRONT SEATS - renovate or replace?

Postby DortmundBrian » Tue May 26, 2009 12:02 am

The standard seats in my recently purchased 2005 350 MWB van are filthy and stained from 4 years of builders use, and I can't decide what to do about them. They are structurally ok - ie not worn or ripped, so how can I clean them up to match the splendid job I'm doing in the rest of the van? Superficial cleaning will be no use, as the dust is deeply ingrained in the foam. I also don't want to just hide the mess under new seat covers, and - needless to say - forking out for new/replacement seats is out of the question - unless a real bargain drops into my lap!

Anyone know if the seat coverings and the internal foam be easily taken apart and washed? I'm reluctant to try this 'blind' in case the bits get damaged and I can't get the seats back together again!

The seats are the bog-standard driver's + double passenger set-up.

Any knowledge base, suggestions, ideas welcome! Thanks.

You can remove the seat covers to wash in th emachine quite easily. Its just a long job undoing all of the split rings that they are fastend with. I removed all of my covers and replaced them with new material. Check out the build in my sig
