My Camper Project

Postby foxi » Sun Dec 20, 2009 7:09 pm

I bought this during summer to use for festivals, I've been very, very slowly working on it. I've used it a few times with a mattress thrown in the back

I put it through it's MOT this month which cost a bit more than I was hoping for!

I've been working on the 12V this weekend

more pictures to follow when I make some more progress :D

Foxi,

Firstly nice van 8)

Q:I thought most festivals would'nt allow campers due to parking & theft issue's :? :?:

If you have a list of the festivals which are exempt can you PM me the details if possible please

yeh I can stand up, my head just touches to ceiling, I'm about 5 foot 6 (i think).

I can also sleep width ways across the van which has allowed me to make a bit more out of the space (it's only a SWB).

Erm...every festival I have been to has allowed them :? You do have to buy a camper van ticket and camp in the designated area though. The price of a camper van tickets varies quite a lot depending on which festival it is (some are a disgusting rip off and just not worth it!).

I prefer the smaller ones as you can usually park your van in with the tents :D

Progress update 8)

I have fitted the vinyl floor, fitted the 230V inlet to the side of the van and relined the ceiling that came with it. It had some quite tired looking carpet on it so I have taken it all off and fitted some vinyl. I put that back up at the weekend but have a bit of a mistake, I didn't take into account how deep the 12V switches are for the LED down lighters so they won't sit flush. I have tried jabbing the insulation with a screwdriver but it's got a bit messy so I need to take it back down and open up the holes in the insulation a bit

It's so bloody cold out their at the moment

I'm building a kitchen unit that will go under the window (the gap in the picture above).
It will have a sink to the left, a basic two hob/ grill combination next to that (one of the £40-£50 things off ebay).
I'll have cupboard space and in this I'm going to have a small compressor fridge, i would post some sketches but I don't have them on this computer

..I have read the DVL regs and the only thing that I am not gonna meet is the length of the bed, it falls short. I'm gonna just try and put it through as it is and if it fails I can also make some "show" pieces that attach to the kitchen so that it looks like the bed runs length ways and not width ways, these can be got rid of once it has been reclassified
