Tell me more about this Ford A0609

Hi!

(I hope this is the right/semi-right forum to ask this question in)

I aquired this Ford A0609 from a friend, and he tells me that it has an engine from a "Ford Cargo". (The engine has been swapped at one time or another).

Could you Ford-people have a look at the pictures and educate me in what engine/tranny it's got! -Im thinking of using the engine/tranny in another truck (not a ford thou) I would also very much want to know if it's a good dependable engine, and if there are any spare parts to be found! The specifications on the gearbox would also be nice (are there any OD?)

hi my frend that engine is a york 6 cylender diesel 3.5ltr it was a standard fittment in some of those type trucks! i think it was a good type of engine as long as it starts ok its good! the 4 cylender was a bad engine to start and thats why it had a name in england as a porky pig! cant help much with the gearbox!

Haven't seen one of thoses for 22 years, 6 cyl york with a "MIMIMEC" fuel pump on it. Don't know where you would get parts now for it. All the A series where very bad for cab rot. I remember working on a AA609, that's an A series artic unit, who's seen one of them recently, or an AA610 a V6 monster petrol artic unit about 7 m.p.g.

Thx for the replys! -Thought there would be some more info at hand about this truck/engine -This is the only one I have seen here in Sweden so far..

I dont like the fact that is has a cam-belt, but I suppose that if i put in a new one I would be safe. -Where do I find a new belt?

you will find many cambelts on ebay...

the york 6 cylinder is really the four cylinder york found in transit with two extra cylinders on the middle..
